Deacon Steven DeMartino serves as the Director of Consultation Services for Saint John Vianney Center (SJVC). In this role he provides consultations to dioceses and religious communities, leadership support and development, behavioral health and addiction interventions, prevention and education workshops, and speaking and facilitation for convocations, chapters, and assemblies.
Concurrently with his service at SJVC, Deacon DeMartino serves the Conference of Major Superiors of Men as the Director of Safeguarding Initiatives, a ministry of consultation and accompaniment of Major Superiors of Institutes of Consecrated Life, Societies of Apostolic Life, and independent Monasteries.
Prior to joining SJVC, Deacon DeMartino served as the Director of Priest Wellness for twelve years for the Cardinal Archbishop and the Vicar for Clergy of the Archdiocese of New York, a specialty ministry of healing and accompaniment to the Presbyterate.
Deacon Steven received his graduate degree from the City University of New York Baruch College School of Business and Public Administration Executive Education Program where his Capstone thesis work focused on leadership development and operations management in faith-based, not-for-profit health and behavioral health organizations. Deacon Steven is also trained in psychology, sociology, and pastoral counseling, with a specialty in the assessment and care of those suffering from addictive disease disorders. For fifteen years Deacon DeMartino taught counseling theory and practice and health systems management in NYC area colleges.
Deacon DeMartino served one term to the Saint John Vianney Center Board of Directors and remains active in board governance serving on Religious Institute Review Boards and faith-based behavioral health Boards of Directors.
Deacon DeMartino also serves a Parish assignment to the Church of St. Augustine, Ossining, New York, where he is the Director of Parish Social Ministries.
