Karen Cox serves as the Director of Therapeutic Activities for the Saint John Vianney Center (SJVC) organizing and implementing on site and off site activities that complement the treatment programs and services of SJVC. The activities she provides to residents are inspired by our holistic approach and assist in the healing of mind, body and spirit.
She also provides classes which include a variety of fitness/wellness themes. Karen provides Pet Therapy with her three certified (KPETS, AKC, PALS) Therapy Dogs throughout the week for residents and staff in the facility. Pet Therapy has been proven to be sound therapy and as effective as all other methods of therapies.
Ms. Cox is a physiologist certified as a STOTT Pilates instructor on all levels, ZUMBA all levels, personal trainer, mind/body trainer, life coach, group and individual exercise prescription, holistic health consultant, sports nutritionist, and Pennsylvania State licensed coach and referee. Karen has studied fitness and wellness education at Central Michigan University, Wayne State University, and West Chester University and has worked in this profession for over 30 years in hospitals, mental health facilities, major corporations, and wellness institutions.
