Reverend Jim Garvey, O. Praem. serves as a member of the Spiritual Care Department for the Saint John Vianney Center (SJVC) meeting with residents to discuss their spiritual life and ministry.
Before joining SJVC, Father Jim served as a board certified chaplain at Holy Redeemer Health System and continues to oversee the Spiritual Direction ministry at Daylesford Abbey and leading individuals through the Spiritual Exercises of Ignatius Loyola. Father Jim is a newly ordained Norbertine priest in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.
Father Jim earned a B.A. from Boston College, an M.A. from St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in Philadelphia, a Graduate Certificate in Spiritual Direction from Fordham University and a M.Div. and Graduate Certificate in Liturgy from Catholic Theological Union in Chicago. Prior to entering religious life in 2010, Father Jim worked in sales and marketing for several national brands while raising a family.
Father Jim also served as an assessor and group facilitator for the Council for Drug and Alcohol Dependence for Bucks County and provided spiritual direction and mentoring to federal inmates while studying in Chicago. He has provided retreats on prayer and personality, 12 Step spirituality and forgiveness.
Father Jim is drawn to the transformative dynamics of spirituality and the unfolding power that awaits each of us when we remain open to life’s mysteries in the sacredness of each day.
