Fr. James J. Greenfield, OSFS, serves as a professional consultant with the Saint John Vianney Center providing religious workshops and convocations for Clergy and Religious across the country.
Very Reverend James J. Greenfield, OSFS, is the provincial superior of the Eastern Province of the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales and has held that ministry since January 2008. Presently, he is also serving as the President of the Conference of Major Superiors of Men. Prior to his election as provincial, he was the rector of the Oblate Seminary in Washington, DC and also the director of the formation program. He taught graduate courses at the Catholic University of America, the Washington Theological Union, and the George Washington University in spirituality, theology, and human development.
Fr. Greenfield has vast experience in leading days of reflection/ recollection, retreats, and workshops for Religious and Diocesan Presbyterates. He is well versed on issues at the intersection of spirituality and human development with attention to wellness, stress, and self-care. As a professional counselor he integrates healthy living and spiritual direction for priests and religious. He is a sought-after director for parish missions and retreats.
Fr. Greenfield was ordained a priest in 1990. He holds a doctorate in human development from the George Washington University in Washington, DC, and Master’s degrees in both theology and counseling. He is presently chairman of the board of Washington Theological Union, Salesianum School in Wilmington, DE, Nativity Preparatory School also in Wilmington, DE, and a member of the board of DeSales University in Center Valley, PA, and Father Judge High School in Philadelphia, PA.
