A Necessary Conversation: A Gathering of Experts, Part 2

SECOND BIENNIAL JOINT CONFERENCE: INTERCULTURAL COMPETENCY

June 10-13, 2012 - The second of two ground breaking conferences co-hosted by Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary and the Saint John Vianney Center was held from June 10 through June 13, 2012 at the Philadelphia Marriott West. Professionals who gathered from across the country and around the world, included psychologists, vocation directors, seminary staff, religious and diocesan leadership, and formators. The focus of the conference was to strengthen and enhance collaborative dialogue within and between these professions.

Most Reverend Jose H. Gomez, Archbishop of Los Angeles, and Fernando Ortiz, Ph.D., Director of the Counseling Center of Gonzaga University opened the event as keynote speakers. A number of notable speakers and panelists presented at the conference including nationally recognized author and expert on the integration of psychology and spirituality, Len Sperry, M.D., Ph.D.

Special recognition goes to Most Reverend Jose H. Gomez, Reverend Shawn McKnight of the USCCB, Reverend Shaun L. Mahoney, S.T.D., Reverend Joseph Bongard, Reverend Patrick Welsh, the staff of St. Charles Borromeo Seminary, Mr. Edward Maguire, LCSW, Reverend Gerard McGlone, S.J.,Ph.D., and the staff of Saint John Vianney Center.

The response from conference attendees was exceptional and they expressed the need for future gatherings.
