Intake and Admission Process
Calls are accepted 24 hours per day, seven days per week from individuals, diocesan officials, community superiors, and treating clinicians. The basic information is reviewed with the Medical Director.
The clinical appropriateness for admission is determined by an assessment of the clinical condition of the prospective individual, the reason for the referral, the meeting of the established admission criteria, and the availability of staff resources to meet the needs of the individual. Further information can be obtained from additional phone calls to treating clinicians. Once appropriateness is determined, an admission date is set.
In the event that a bed is not available, a waiting list is utilized. Priority is determined by the date of the referral. A pre-admission packet of information is sent to the prospective individual, diocesan official, or community superior for completion.
Most new admissions arrive at Saint John Vianney Center accompanied by a member of their religious community or diocese. Every attempt is made to coordinate a convenient time of arrival.
