Anthony Mele, Psy.D.
Dr. Tony Mele, licensed psychologist, brings over fifteen years of clinical and executive leadership experience to Saint John Vianney Center.
Prior to earning his doctorate in psychology, Dr. Mele was a faculty member at several secondary schools conducted by the De La Salle Christian Brothers including Catholic Social Services' Saint Gabriel's Hall.
Dr. Mele has assumed senior clinical and program development leadership at a number of Philadelphia area health providers including Child Guidance Resource Centers, Central Bucks Counseling, Foundations Behavioral Health and At Home Health Home Care.
A frequent grant recipient in the area of telehealth, Dr. Mele has implemented telehealth programs for home care agencies, post-transplantation monitoring, inpatient discharge monitoring and outpatient providers serving in remote areas.
Dr. Mele is also a seasoned managed care executive with both behavioral health and medical health plan experience. Dr. Mele served as the first Chief Clinical Officer for AmeriChoice Behavioral Health, a managed behavioral healthcare company serving 90,000 Medicaid and Medicare recipients. In this position, Dr. Mele was liaison to the PA DPW and county governments in southeastern Pennsylvania. Upon transitioning to the medical health insurance arena, Dr. Mele was director of special needs for AmeriChoice and became a frequent presenter in the area of medical and behavioral health integration.
As a regional Vice President for United Health Group, Dr. Mele was responsible for chronic disease management and wellness programs along the East coast and assisted in their expansion to the United Health Group Midwest region. Dr. Mele served as the Chief Behavioral Health Director to the AmeriChoice Managed Services Organization and assisted in the development of statewide and county management contracts throughout the United States.
Dr. Mele has most recently provided consultation to the City of Philadelphia Department of Health and Emergency Housing in the area of program development for preventive health and wellness.
